Felted and Needlepunched

This neckwarmer is one of my latest felted projects.  Made from soft hand-dyed merino fleece, wool yarns, cotton threads, and recycled sari silk pieces.

Here's a closeup of the yarns needle-punched into the felted fleece.

The wide fuschia section is a piece of recycled sari silk.

 Large avacado button.
 More needle-punching effects.

It can be worn draped around the shoulders too.  It reminds me of Sante Fe.

Thank you for visiting!

Felted Violets in a Clay Pot Pin Cushion

Here's a subtle pin cushion, perfect for your sewing table.

I kept thinking about making this pin cushion, so this morning I finally finished it. The tiny pot is a standard 1.5" size.

There's two yellow head pins in the center of the violet as a realistic accent.

It's tiny, but subtle. Perfect for your craft table.
You can find it listed on my Etsy shop - PA Fiber Artist.

Happy creating!

Felted Bunnies

Here is my latest needle felted Easter bunny. She is cute and squishy.

She is made from 100% wool fleece. The basket is needle felted too and the grass is cotton "Sea Grass," which I found at a local needlepoint store. It's stiff and feels like real grass!

I tried to make the ears to look like real rabbit ears and it was a bit tricky.
Of course she has a fluffy white bunny tail!

Spring is almost here!

Pumpkins in Art

Here's a quick post about some pumpkins that have been on my mind lately. First is the tiny amigurumi pumpkin baby. She is so cute and only 1 1/2" around by 1" tall.
She is needle-felted with orange dyed wool fleece, with two green leaves and a chocolate brown fleece stem. Then there's Mr. Pumpkin. He smiles all of the time!

This is my latest pumpkin painting. It's an original watercolor attached onto dark brown taffeta fabric, which covers a 6x8 artist's canvas. A chocolate brown bow is an embellishment on top. All displayed on an easel, which will look excellent in your entryway or living room in your home.

Please stop by my Etsy Store to see more of my pieces.

Happy Pumpkins!

Lampwork Felted Beads

I've been making felted pieces lately. It's so addicting. I wake up thinking about felt!

My newest felt includes making felted lampwork-style beads and felting supplies. Here is a multi-dotted 1 1/2" felted bead, a long felted bead with a nested real turquoise cabachon, as well as my newest felted rope pieces for necklaces, lariats, belts, bracelets, purse handles, etc. It's made from hand-dyed wool fleece from Germany.

There are so many interesting felt artists - keep felting!

Have Some Coffee and Rugelach

There are so many artists and crafters who love having a nice cup coffee while they create. However, it's life transforming to include a nice piece of rugelach every once in a while! I love this food combination so much, that I decided to needle felt the two of them. The rugelach turned out to look like cinnamon.

I think the Corner Cafe Bakery makes some of the best rugelach in town. But don't forget to try the recipe from the Barefoot Contessa Parties cookbook . It's also excellent!

Bon appetit!

Amigurumi Felt?

Where have I been and why didn't someone tell me about Amigurumi? It is so much fun and all of the characters are so cute!

Amigurumi characters originated in Japan, but they are usually crocheted. I decided to make one but needle felted it instead. Here is my first attempt. I took a picture of "Squishy Apple Cutie" in my macIntosh apple tree.

Needle felting is very therapeutic and creative. Here is a link to Kay Petal's website "Felt Alive." There are other neat felting blog links to the right.

Bye for now.

Needle Felted Santa

Dear Visitors:

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you are having a nice day.

Here is my first attempt at needle felting a santa and I am going to call him "Pere Noel."

Needle felting is interesting and fun to try. Normally, I make wet-felted pieces or scarves using a Japanese felting technique called Nuno felting. However, needle felting is a bit different. You take some fleece, roll it into whatever shape you want to achieve, and poke it with a needle with prongs to lock in and mesh the fibers together.

There are online felting classes and Youtube videos that show the different felting techniques. I have some felting links on my sidebar as well. Please browse through them. You will be totally inspired to give it a try. Here's a great needle felt artist: Felt Alive.
